The core belief of our church is that Jesus Christ is the One who gives us forgiveness, comfort, and eternal hope. We believe that anyone can enjoy peace with God through Him.

Meet the Pastor

Paul Brinkman, Pastor

Our Pastor, Paul Brinkman, was born and raised in Mangere, Auckland in 1962. He attended Mountain View Primary School, Arahanga Intermediate and Mangere College.

He grew up in a Christian home and at the age of 10 accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour. The family attended Bible Baptist Church, initially in Ellerslie and then Papatoetoe, until they built their own church building in East Tamaki. In his teenage years Paul was active in the church teaching Sunday School and working in AWANA clubs.

Planning to go to university after finishing high school, Paul was called to preach the Gospel whilst at a family Camp in January 1980. He attended the Bible Baptist Institute of New Zealand from 1980 through 1982 and graduated with a Graduate Degree of Theology.

  • In 1984 Paul married Hera and they have four grown children and currently nine grandchildren. Family is an important part of his life and ministry.

    Over the years Paul pastored Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Maunganui, taught at Tyndale Park Christian School and pastored the Rotorua Bible Baptist Church. He took a break from full time ministry as they raised their children, while continuing to be active in church ministry.

    Paul spent almost eight years on the Board of Trustees of Rutherford College in Te Atatu, much of that time as Deputy Chairman and also Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.

    Paul spent many years in senior management roles in the workforce before God called him and his wife to go back into full time ministry. They knew that God wanted them to plant a new church in South Auckland and in February 2014 they were sent out by Cornerstone Baptist Church (Otara) and the first service of Community Baptist Church was held in Manurewa.

    Paul has recently completed his Master’s Degree through West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California.

    Paul and his wife have a great burden to reach people in the communities of Manurewa East, Hill Park, The Gardens, Randwick Park and Takanini with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their greatest joy is for people to discover they can have their sins forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ

Church Vision

To inspire people to develop a heart for God and to include them in a church family where they can be instructed, and then involved in a ministry that is culturally sensitive, fundamental in doctrine, and determined to aggressively impact Manurewa and the regions beyond with the Gospel of Christ.

What's In the Name Baptist?

B - Biblical authority in all matters of faith and practice

You will not find visions, revelations, tongues, or extra-Biblical “messages from God” at Community Baptist.

A – Autonomy or self-governing power of the local church
Our church is completely self-governed outside of a denomination.

P – Priesthood of believers
Every believer has equal and instant access to God. This means that each believer is his own priest and has direct access to God’s truth and God’s will for his life

T – Two officers within the church
The Community Baptist Church has two offices of Leadership – Pastors and Deacons. Scripture refers to the office of pastor with terms such as elder, bishop, and pastor. It is the responsibility of the Pastor’s to serve the church by leading, teaching, and overseeing the church work. It is the responsibility of deacons to serve the church family through assisting with care and the provision of special needs.

I – Individual Soul Liberty
Every man and woman must choose personally to come to Christ for salvation.

S – Separation of Church and State
The state should have no power to intervene in the free expression of religious liberty.

T – Two Ordinances
We practice two simple ordinances at Community Baptist Church – baptism and the Lord’s Table (communion). These ordinances have no part in salvation and only serve as pictures of what Christ did for us.

S – Security of the Believer
Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be taken away. When a person is saved, he is always saved. Nothing can separate him from eternal life in Christ and he can live with full assurance of Heaven as his future home.
